Absolutely Bike Fabulous - Saturday 23rd June

Those lovely people at Love Your Bike would like to invite you to this year's Bike Fabulous event in Manchester Arndale (Exchange Court) on Saturday 23rd June.



Saturday 23rd June sees the third annual Bike Fabulous event take place in Manchester Arndale. There’s something for everyone, whether you’ve never cycled in your life or are a regular on your bike.

Cycling doesn’t mean sacrificing style for comfort. Why compromise? Bike Fabulous brings together clothes and accessories designed with cycling in mind, as well as everyday wear perfect for riding your bike and looking great.

Join us 11am – 5pm for all things bike and fabulous including:
  • Catwalk shows showing how easy it is to cycle in style
  • Pedal powered sound – cycle to keep the music going
  • Cycle maintenance displays and training details from BikeRight!
  • Bike and accessory selections to inspire you
  • Information and advice to get you started and help you carry on
  • Competitions to win a bike as well as some pampering Lush goodies
  • Craft activities for children (grown ups welcome too!)
  • Discounts for participating Manchester Arndale retailers and local bike shop.

Oxford Road Annual Celebration of Cycling 2012 (Weds 20th June)

During National Bike Week in June, the Oxford Road Corridor partners (Uuniversity of Manchester, MMU, Central Manchester NHS Trust & Royal Northern  College of Music) will be celebrating all things cycling from 8:30am to 3pm, on Wednesday 20 June.

 There's a host of activities to encourage cyclists, new or experienced, young or old:


Help spread the word by downloading a poster or flyer for display in your building or bike shelter.


Stalls at the Event:   15+ cycling related companies will provide a range of information, advice, prize draws and freebies. There will be free bike tune ups, security marking, electric bike trials and much more!

Companies and groups supporting the event include: Transport for Greater Manchester, University of Manchester Bike User Group, Bicycle Boutique, Bike Right!, Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op, Love Your Bike, Ken Fosters, UoM Security, MMU Security, icycle, British Cycling, Manchester City Council, Sustrans, Revolve MCR, University of Manchester Sport, MMU Sport, Withington Cycles and Juicy Electric Bikes.

Incentives Available: On the registration stall the Corridor Manchester Transport Group will provide incentives including high viz jackets, waterproof seat covers, pumps, cycle computers and more (on a first come, first served basis).





Free Breakfast (for staff): From 8.30am until 11am a free breakfast voucher (up to the value of £3, with a limited number available) will be available for Eats Refectory and Potter's Refectory.

A veritable Biketastic feast of events for Bike Week (June 19th - 27th)

Friday 18th. Adult Social Ride
Start Bike Week off with a relaxed cycle ridevisiting pubs along the canal to Sale and returning via Sale Water Park and Jackson's Boat.

Starting from the Spread Eagle pub, Wilbraham Road, Chorlton at 6pm.

19th - 27th June. GM Cycle Commute Challenge

Get on your bike for the GM Cycle Commute Challenge 2010 and be in with a chance to win some great prizes!

The Cycle Commute challenge is simple, all you have to do is cycle to and from your place of work/study at least once during Bike Week (19th – 27th June),  record your cycle trip(s) and you could win a cycle computer, cycle training or bike maintenance sessions and £100 vouchers that can be spent at your local cycle shop.



Sunday 20th.  Trafford Bike Festival. Worthington Park (12 noon - 5pm)

A bike festival aimed at the whole family, in conjunction with Sale Lions annual fete.  Activities include:
Bike smoothie maker
Roller racing event
Guided cycle rides
Mountain bike skills session
Trans Pennine Trail and Bridgewater Way displays
Cyling information, maps and accessories
Displays of vintage and unusual bikes
Dr Bike workshop

Monday 21st. Maintenance Monday

Many of us have bicycles we could use but they just need a little TLC to get them roadworthy and fit to cycle.

To help you get your bicycle fit for Bike Week, several cycle stores in Greater Manchester have organised "Maintenance Monday" events.







Tuesday 22nd. Bike to Work Day (Albert Square, Manchester City Centre. 8am – 3pm)

  Including a Bike Friday on a Tuesday! Cycle in and earn your free Bike breakfast! Bike Maintenance, servicing, cleaning, information, advice, freebies and even have-a-go activities! Bike skills from 11.30am-2.30pm
Open to all!)



Thursday 24th. Greater Manchester Cycling Campaign - Social Ride

Ride starts at 5.30pm in Albert Square, and going to the Airport via Route 6.

Friday 25th.  Bike Friday

Join in with these ‘led rides’ from locations in Bury, Manchester, Salford and Trafford. Rides finish at Exchange Street, Corporation Street.

All participants can get a free Dr Bike maintenance check and  ‘Coffee and Cake’ at the Titchy Coffee Co.

Friday 25th. Critical Mass
Mass cycle ride on the last Friday of every month.
Starts 6pm at Central Library, Manchester.







Saturday 26th. Bike Fabulous


A showcase of fashionable and functional clothing plus accessories.
Products designed for cycling in style and high street brands combined for versatile looks.

Manchester Arndale. Activities and competitions throughout the day, catwalk show at 14:00.
